Program Features

The Device Enrolment Program (DEP) helps businesses easily deploy and configure Apple devices. DEP provides a fast, streamlined way to deploy organization-owned iPad and iPhone devices, Mac computers, and Apple TV purchased directly from Apple or participating Apple Authorised Resellers or carriers. This guide will give you an overview of program features, explain how to enrol, and help you get started.

Mandatory and lockable MDM enrolment

All iOS, macOS, and tvOS devices added to DEP are automatically enrolled in MDM, ensuring consistent configuration and ongoing management by locking devices to MDM.

Wireless supervision

Supervision enables advanced management for organization-owned iOS devices, allowing additional restrictions and features like web filtering and Single App Mode. DEP activates supervision wirelessly during setup.

Zero-touch configuration for IT

DEP allows IT to configure devices remotely upon activation, eliminating the need for manual setup or staging services.

Streamlined Setup Assistant

DEP guides users through setup with a pre-configured Setup Assistant, allowing IT to skip unnecessary screens and simplify the activation process.

Manual device enrolment

iOS devices and Apple TV can be manually enrolled via Apple Configurator. A 30-day period allows users to remove the device from MDM and supervision if desired.

Upgrade

to Apple School Manager

If your school currently uses the Device Enrolment Program or Volume Purchase Program, you can upgrade to Apple School Manager—a web-based service for buying content, setting up automatic device enrolment with MDM, and creating accounts for students and staff.

to Apple Business Manager

If your business uses the Device Enrolment Program or Volume Purchase Program, you can move to Apple Business Manager. It combines content purchasing and automatic device enrolment into one web-based platform for IT admins and tech managers.
